Xi Jinping Visits Murabba' Palace
2016/01/20

On 20 January 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping visited the Murabba' Palace in the company of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

At about 11:00 a.m. local time, Xi Jinping arrived at the Murabba' Palace and received a warm welcome from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The two heads of state together watched Saudi Arabian folk performance such as sword dance and joyfully danced with people present. After that, Xi Jinping and Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud tasted traditional Arab coffee and cuisine. Xi Jinping also visited the exhibition hall of the life of King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud introduced the life of King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Murabba' Palace shows unique artistic charisma and cultural heritage of traditional Saudi Arabian buildings, making people feel the open-mindedness of the Arab nation. This is my first visit to Saudi Arabia in 8 years, and what I see and hear has left a deep impression on me. Saudi Arabia boasts not only modern facilities, advanced transportation and comfortable environment but also time-honored palaces, exquisite furnishings and valuable cultural relics. Saudi Arabia's development can be ascribed to the diligence, courage and wisdom of its people and to the hard work of its government.

Xi Jinping stressed that my current visit to Saudi Arabia has yielded fruitful results, which set an objective for and blueprinted the development of China-Saudi Arabia relations, and I feel satisfied about this. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and I agreed to establish a high-level steering committee for coordinating bilateral cooperation in all fields. In the next stage, both countries should take the opportunity of establishing the comprehensive strategic partnership to earnestly implement all important consensus and results and to push bilateral all-round cooperation for better and faster development.

The Murabba' Palace was once the royal palace of King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, founding father of Saudi Arabia. Its construction started in 1936 and was completed in 1945. The palace, named after its square form, is of traditional Saudi Arabian style.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended above events.
