Wang Yi Holds Telephone Talks with Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia

On March 23, 2015, Foreign Minister held telephone talks with Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia at request, exchanging views on China-Saudi Arabia relations and the situation in Yemen.

Wang Yi noted that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Saudi Arabia. China always views China-Saudi Arabia relationship from strategic and long-term perspective. At present, as the international and regional situation is undergoing profound and complex changes, China is ready to intensify cooperation with Saudi Arabia to promote the bilateral relations for new stage.

Saud Al-Faisal said that Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to its relations with China and stands ready to further boost the strategic friendly relations between Saudi Arabia and China and deepen cooperation in various fields.

Saud Al-Faisal briefed Wang Yi on Saudi Arabia's views on the current situation in Yemen, appreciated the positive role played by China in the Yemeni issue and expressed Saudi Arabia's willingness to boost communication with China and to help Yemen restore security and stability at an early date.

Wang Yi expressed that China feels worried about the escalating conflicts in Yemen recently and strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Sana'a, capital of Yemen. China hopes that parties concerned in Yemen could immediately stop violent conflicts, earnestly implement relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, the initiatives put forward by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the outcome documents of the National Dialogue Conference, the "national peace and partnership agreement" and others, and seek a solution acceptable to all parties through political approaches including dialogues. China stands ready to work with the international community including Saudi Arabia to continue making efforts to safeguard the security and stability in Yemen and the region at large.
