President of Saudi Shoura Council expected to strengthen Saudi-Chinese parliamentary cooperation

  On January 8, the Chinese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Yang Honglin met with the President of the Saudi Shoura Council, H.E. Dr Saleh Abdullah Hameed. During the friendly and cordial conversation, they exchanged opinions on strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

  H.E. Mr. Yang denoted that the head of state of China and Saudi Arabia reached the great consensus of developing bilateral strategic friendship and cooperation during their successful exchange of visits in 2006. Since then, the Sino-Saudi relations had stepped into a new era with links flourished in a huge number of areas. China attached great importance to the role played by Saudi Arabia in the international energy market and the vital influence of Saudi Arabia in the Islamic and Arab world. He emphasized that the Saudi Shoura Council had been playing an increasingly important role in Saudi political arena. He expected to consolidate ties and exchanges among the Saudi Shoura Council, the National People's Congress of China and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

  H.E. Mr. Hameed welcomed H.E. Mr. Yang's arrival as the new Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. He lauded the great achievements made by China in modernizing its economy and important role played by China in maintaining world peace and stability. He spoke highly of the Saudi-Chinese relations and expressed his sincere wish to promote mutual parliamentary cooperation to a new height.
