In order to promote the educational intercourse and cooperation between Asian-African countries and China, consigned by Ministry of Education, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) will hold 2 rd Advanced Training Program of Research and Development of Medicinal Plants for some Asian and African countries.

Introduction to Training Program of Medicinal Plants

I. Requirements for applicants:

1. Master degree or above in Pharmacy or Organic Chemistry, with practical experience, engaged in the development or research of botanic medicine in college institutes.

2. Bachelor degree or above in Pharmacy, official of ministry of health, medical care, sanitation or equivalent, engaged in the administration of medicine.

II. Competitive Election: Reference quota of people is 4 ~ad 2 will be admitted. There is no gender limit. The applicants should be healthy and not exceed 55 years old.

III. Language of Instruction and everyday: English Teaching Materials: English

IV. Training Content:

Basics of distill, separation and analysis of botanic medicine, research and development of new botanic medicine.

l. Master distill, separation and analysis methods of tie effective component in common botanic medicine.

2. Master the basic theories and skills of common Chinese Materia Medica preparation.

3. Acquaint with the basic idea of the research and development of new botanic medicine.

4. Acquaint with the medical system of China and the developing strategy of TCM.

The training will process in the form of theory learning, lectures, practice, discussion and investigations.

Each participant is supposed to write a report on a special topic based on conditions of his home nation before coming to China and a study summary before the end of the training.

V. Duration: Sept. 5, 2005 to Oct. 6, 2005.

VII. Funds

The flight tickets, accommodation and transportation in China will be covered by TUTCM, the rest (room and board when intertransferring, excess baggage, international call or long distance call in China, laundry and et al.) will be paid by the scholar himself. If the scholar changes the fight ticket, the excess part will be paid by the sending nation or the scholar himself.
